Anselm Dyer-Grimes

b. London, 2001

I received my BFA from the Ruskin school of art in 2023. I create both sculptures and paintings. In my sculptural practice I use found forms and readily accessible materials like cardboard and foam to create ritualistic objects and monuments for fictional societies and cultures. Having previously only focused on sculpture, I started to produce paintings around the end of my degree course. My paintings share similar approaches and concerns as my sculptures, there is a strong focus on utilising found forms and images, an interest in space as well as an acute consideration of the role of the viewer. At the core of my practice is a belief in the power of imagination and a desire to build new worlds. I am currently completing an MA in philosophy of art at Kingston University, my research examines the relationship between art and politics.
